About the film
A bookumentary based on Eve in Exile, featuring author Rebekah Merkle
First-Wave feminists held rallies for women's suffrage and Prohibition. Second-Wave feminists marched for jobs, and abortion. Today, Third-Wave feminists stand firmly for nobody's quite sure what. Modern women need liberating now more than ever. The truth is, feminists don't know what liberation is. They have led us into a very boring dead end.
This documentary follows author Rebekah Merkle as she discusses the role of Christian women in today’s world, the pitfalls and distractions we should avoid, and how we should approach rebuilding the ruins of the West.
Two Distractions
Do you have any friends who are really into prairie dresses and jumpers? They likely idealize the past and ignore its very real problems. But if you have lady friends who love pant-suits and 60-hour work weeks, you can tell they’ve been trained to look to the cubicle for fulfillment. Set aside these distractions and look at what the Bible actually says to women.
Enter Feminism
Who could be against equality for women? Nobody–but feminists have no clue how to get us there. First-Wave feminists held rallies for women's suffrage. Second-Wave feminists marched for Prohibition, jobs, and abortion. Today, Third-Wave feminists stand firmly for nobody's quite sure what (maybe Bruce Jenner?). We’re bored and boring.
What are women designed for?
Toss out that trash and ask yourself, what does the Bible say to women? Well, each woman is called to subdue, fill, help, and glorify. And these four tasks are awe-inspiring and huge. So why do we act like God created the world… and then told the women to go wait in a corner while men do the important stuff?
Living out our design
You’re still thinking too small. This inspiring final section of the documentary will muss your hair a bit to show you how you can ponder how to make your God-given task to “subdue, fill, help, and glorify” real in your own life. Take the gifts, desires, and constraints God has given you, and weave them into something glorious—something that beckons a broken world to come, taste, see that the Lord is good.
